KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON PAINTING

This was an interesting painting to do, not just because it's been a while since I've painted in a smaller scale, but because it brought to my attention the importance of having a "sabai" relaxed and soft mind before commencing meditation and painting. Ideally, as meditation practitioners we should aim to have a soft relaxed mind all the time. With this painting, for the first few painting sessions I was feeling rather stressed and I put a lot of pressure on myself while painting too, and I think it showed in the painting. For the final painting session I made sure to have a soft relaxed mind that whole day and so I had a really good meditation and was able to complete the painting to my satisfaction.

I think the seven vertical shapes in the painting may represent beings of another dimension, spirits, or maybe even a heaven's team. I'm not an advanced enough meditation practitioner yet to say for certain, that's just the sense I get. Spirituality and spiritual art wasn't something I set out to do until I learned how to meditate and it changed my life.
